LED lighting is the future

LED lighting for businesses is a growing industry and with changes and improvements in technology the LED is set to continue to benefit businesses, employees and the environment. We know all the benefits; cost effectiveness, long life span of between 30,000 to 50,000 hours, can be six to seven times more energy-efficient than conventional incandescent lights and can cut energy use by more than 80% — but what can we expect from the future of the LED light?

Improved Lighting Control: Along with LED lighting installations there are a number of new ways to control the lighting solution you choose, from occupancy sensors, photo sensors, wireless and cloud based controls, meaning that lights can be switched on and controlled from one central network and with over lighting controls in place it can significantly improve energy savings. Installing an LED lighting solution for your project will mean you have more control, better monitoring and network connectivity that wasn’t previously available with standard incandescent lights.

Colour Temperature Control: Who would have thought that the lighting in our buildings can affect people so much — LED lights have a positive affect and could help with the following:

  • Improved sleep & energy levels
  • Improved productivity
  • Improved mood
  • Quicker recovery from illness or injury

Outdoor & Overhead Lighting: Due to improvements in manufacturing and costs the LED is now replacing traditional street lighting and car parking lighting — although traditional street lighting may be less expensive to install, the LED street lamp comes with many other benefits and a lower carbon footprint and is more cost effective in the long run.

Lower Prices: As manufacturing competition grows the selling price of the LED lamp is decreasing. It is believed and reported by The Department of Energy that the $/klm LED lamp price is expected to decrease by approximately 55% by 2017 and a projected decrease of 30% for LED luminaires. Supply is currently exceeding demand meaning that light fittings can be offered at lower prices, ultimately making an LED upgrade more attractive than ever.
