Channel are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of service and support from project design, all the way through to the final commissioning of the system and subsequent routine maintenance.

With 35 years experience within the Fire Detection and Emergency Lighting sectors, you can be assured that your project, installation and/or premises are in capable hands.

Please be aware that all systems must be maintained in order to comply with British Standards and insurance company requirements. Failure to do so may lead to the invalidation of your insurance.

Commissioning

Channel offers the most comprehensive commissioning service within the Fire Detection and Emergency Lighting industries by offering two levels of commissioning; Gold or Silver. Channel will ensure the system is in full working order and also in full compliance with appropriate BS Codes of Practice. In addition to this Channel will demonstrate all functions of the system to the end user.

Gold Level

All firewatch analogue addressable systems are sold with our Gold Level service package unless otherwise requested; this is a level of service unique to Channel. Our commissioning service lightens the burden on the installation company. Our engineers will carry out the following tasks:

  • Code and install detectors to pre-wired bases
  • Code pre-wired breakglass callpoints
  • Code and connect interfaces to the detection loop
  • Advise on connection of interfaces and remote equipment
  • Install panel components and terminate field wiring (including repeater panels)
  • Code, fit and test all ‘on loop’ equipment
  • Test all ‘field’ equipment
  • Carry out decibel readings in all areas and record
  • Demonstrate the system to all interested parties on the final day of commissioning
  • Supply log book with equipment details to client
  • Assist with fault finding on cable for two hours. Time after this (if required, and written order received) will be charged additionally after receipt of an order at an hourly rate applicable

Silver Level

Conventional Fire Systems are commissioned under our Silver Level service. Please note that analogue systems can also be commissioned at this level. Our engineers will carry out the following tasks:

  • Install panel components and terminate field wiring (including repeater panels)
  • Test all ‘field’ equipment
  • Carry out decibel readings in all areas and record
  • Demonstrate the system to all interested parties on the final day of commissioning
  • Supply log book with equipment details to client
  • Assist with fault finding on cable for two hours. Time after this (if required, and written order received) will be charged additionally after receipt of an order at an hourly rate applicable

Comply With Standards And Remain Legal

BS5266 and BS5839:Part 1 2002 place obligations on building occupiers/end users to conduct regular and routine tests and inspections.
